School lunchtime is one of the few parts of the day when children can relax, talk with friends, and interact without a teacher directing every moment. For many students, the lunch period is not only about eating; it is also an important opportunity to build friendships, practice independence, and feel included in the school community.
A child who is tube-fed, however, may miss much of this valuable social time because they must leave the cafeteria and go to the nurse’s office for their meal. They may need to be connected to a feeding pump, sit beneath an IV pole while a gravity bag slowly empties, or wait as the school nurse administers lunch through several bolus syringes.
These procedures may be medically necessary, but completing them away from classmates can make lunchtime feel isolating and overly clinical. U Deliver Medical has the tools to help you help your child have a more engaging lunch time.
