Reimagine Tube Feeding

Products Designed Specifically for Home Tube Feeders

U Deliver Medical products set a new standard for home tube feeding. Gone are the days of filling a 60mL bolus syringe six times at every meal or sitting under a bag of nutrition with five feet of tubing waiting for it to drain.

Patients, caregivers, clinicians and home care supply companies across the country are discovering a more patient friendly way to tube feed.

Reimbursement

The Bolee Bag and all Bolink Caps have been assigned HCPCS Code B4036 – Enteral Feeding Kit – Gravity. Any client that you switch from bolus feeding kits to the Bolee Bag and Bolink Caps can be billed under the gravity code B4036.

PDAC defines the codes for enteral feeding supplies (B4034-B4036) to include all supplies, other than the feeding tube itself, required for the administration of enteral nutrients to the patient for one day. Code B4036 describes a daily fee rather than a specifically defined “kit,” allowing some items to be changed daily; others (like the Bolee Bag) may be used for multiple days.

The reusable design of the Bolee Bag and the flexible nature of the B4036 daily fee let home care suppliers decide what goes in the kit for a 30-day supply. Many home care suppliers provide 10 Bolee Bags and 30 Bolink Large Caps for a 30-day supply.

A Greener Option for Tube Feeding

As we developed our products, we looked at how disposable medical products are used. One of the things that stood out was the amount of waste medical product generate. Of course, some products require a “one-time-use” recommendation because of how they are used and designed.

We looked at tube feeding and challenged ourselves to change the status quo.  From that challenge we created the Bolee® Bag, the first reusable tube feeding container.

The Bolee Bag is made from environmentally friendlier plastic than traditional single use gravity bags. It uses food grade polyethylene which adds stiffness needed to stand up for drying, and toughness to withstand multiple uses.

Re-usability equals less waste to fill the landfills. Here’s the math.

  • Daily use gravity bags generate 365 bags per year per person.
  • Each Bolee Bag can be used 15 times or 5 days – which equals only 73 bags per person per year, an 80% decrease!
  • Reusing Bolee Bags means that 292 fewer bags per person would be going to the landfills each year!

Just think about that…if just 500 people switched from traditional gravity bags to the Bolee Bag, 146,000 fewer bags would go to the landfills EVERY year!

A Clinician's Perspective on U Deliver Medical Products

For you as a providers this means you can have a higher level of confidence that your tube fed patients will comply with your orders and receive the nutrition needed necessary to stay healthy. The bFed system makes meals accessible no matter the circumstances. This type of flexibility is essential for effective nutritional therapy.

Therapy Flexibility

U Deliver Medical products were developed for gravity tube feeding, but we have heard from many patients and caregivers that they love that they can use it for gravity or bolus feeding. They have the best of both worlds giving them the flexibility they need.  Patients have access to nutrition whether at home, school or work. This gives you a higher level of confidence that your tube fed patients will comply with your orders and receive the nutrition needed necessary to stay healthy. The bFed system makes meals accessible no matter the circumstances. This type of flexibility is essential for effective nutritional therapy.

Johnson DCN, RDN, FAND (Troy University) Accepted Safe Food‐Handling Procedures Minimizes Microbial Contamination of Home‐Prepared Blenderized Tube‐Feeding

Another study by Dr. Debra Milton (Umea University) and Teresa W. Johnson DCN, RDN, FAND (Troy University) comparing the cleanliness of Bolee Bags to bolus syringes when used with home blenderized tube feeding was published in NCP Nutrition in Clinical Practice with the conclusion being "The feeding bag used in this study may be used multiple times for BTF with a reduced risk of microbial contamination when manufacturer's cleaning guidelines are followed." Low risk for microbial contamination of syringe and tube feeding bag surfaces after multiple reuses with home blenderized tube feeding

How Long Does A Tube Feeding Meal Take?

U Deliver Medical products are flexible! They can be used as a gravity system by letting the nutrition flow naturally or a bolus system by squeezing the Bolee Bag to create the delivery speed needed. The thickness and temperature of the nutrition being delivered affects the gravity delivery speed and the ease of squeezing the Bolee Bag.

If squeezing the Bolee Bag, firm, consistent squeezing works better than squeezing as hard as possible.

If connecting to a low profile (button) feeding tube, a straight bolus extension set works best because it has large bore tubing.

Real Food Blends is a whole food product that is naturally thicker than products sold in Tetra packages. As the meals differ in consistency, below are Real Food Blends recommendations for thinning out their meals to allow gravity flow. You may have to experiment to find the amount and type of extra liquid that works best for you.

Add 1-2 ounces of your choice of liquid

  • Salmon, Oats & Squash; Beef, Potato & Spinach; Turkey, Sweet Potatoes & Peaches

Add 2 ounces of your choice of liquid

  • Quinoa, Kale & Hemp; Orange Chicken, Carrots & Brown Rice

Add 3 ounces of your choice of liquid

  • Eggs, Apples & Oats
